IFEMA CHOSEN TO HOLD THE 39TH ESMO CONGRESS IN 2014
Madrid is to hold the European Society for Medical Oncology Congress (ESMO 2014). Bringing together 18,000 delegates from 26 to 20 September 2014, the meeting will be the biggest international medical congress ever organised in the Spanish capital and will establish our city as a preferred destination for international scientific associations.
Some 60,000 to 80,000 overnight stays are estimated for the congress, which is to take place at IFEMA, an affiliate body to the Madrid Convention Bureau (MCB). Its economic impact on Madrid will be big, possibly exceeding €50 million, if we bear in mind the organisation’s expenses and the money that participants will be spending. Madrid is the chosen venue for this congress thanks to the bid presented by the MCB.IFEMA's international capacity to hold big professional events is enhanced. SAP CHOOSES IFEMA TO HOLD ITS WORLD MEETING IN MADRID
The meeting will bring more than 8,000 international professional visitors to Madrid. The economic impact over the three days will amount to over €10 million.
SAP, the multinational market leader in business management software applications, has chosen IFEMA over other European competitors and will hold its world meeting at the Feria de Madrid between 8 and 10 November. Five IFEMA pavilions will be allocated to two of the biggest international events in the IT Sector. These are being held together and will bring over 8,000 professionals to Madrid from around the world, earning the city more than €10 million over the three days. The meeting, which takes place three times a year and brings together SAP TechEd and SAPHIRE NOW, will include a full programme of talks and workshops to explain the latest technological breakthroughs in the SAP NetWeaver platform and the conclusions of SAP Business Objects. IFEMA's international capacity to hold big professional events is enhanced. The Madrid Regional Government Opens a New Tourist Information Office at IFEMA
• The new office will promote the Madrid Region among visitors who attend congresses and fairs at the exhibition centre
• The tourist information offices located throughout the Region will offer information regarding IFEMA's fairs and congresses
• Some 28% of the foreign tourists who visited the Madrid Region in the year 2010 did so for reasons of business or to attend fairs and congresses

FAVOURABLE RESULTS REGARDING CONGRESS ACTIVITY FOR IFEMA'S BUSINESS DIVISION DURING THE FIRST HALF OF THE YEAR 2011
We can mention around 400 events, to which we must add a packed programme lasting until the end of the year
The activities programme pursued by IFEMA CONVENTIONS AND CONGRESSES during the first half of the year 2011 consisted of around 400 events. We might also highlight the packed congress and convention schedule that is due to last up until the end of the year. Once again on this occasion, the most prominent feature consists of the prevalence of events of an international stature, which goes to strengthen IFEMA's reputation abroad within this field, in its capacity as a grand centre for business tourism. In this respect, IFEMA is able to make an important contribution to the economic activity of Spain's capital city.Between the months of January and June, some 400 events took place at the IFEMA fairground, including 16 externally-organised fairs and 6 congresses, not to mention other events.

IFEMA SPONSORS THE VOLUNTEER GROUPS FOR WORLD YOUTH DAY 2011
Last 8th June, a collaboration agreement was signed between the Archbishopric of Madrid and Madrid's Trade Fair Body in order to mark IFEMA's designation as a sponsor of the volunteer groups for World Youth Day, which is due to take place in Madrid between 16th and 21st August.
